Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain official city records, ordinances, and council minutes with meticulous attention to detail
- Oversee public records requests and ensure compliance with open records laws
- Coordinate municipal elections, including ballot preparation and voter education
- Administer oaths of office and serve as custodian of the city seal
- Prepare and publish official notices, agendas, and public meeting documentation
- Manage the city's records management system and implement retention policies
- Provide legislative support to Metro Council and serve as a resource for public inquiries
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of municipal government or records management experience
- Proficiency with records management software and document imaging systems
- Deep understanding of Tennessee open records laws and municipal procedures
- Exceptional organizational skills with ability to manage complex projects
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Municipal Clerk) preferred
- Valid Tennessee driver's license
