Job Summary
The City Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of city government by managing official records, facilitating public access to information, and providing high-level administrative support to department heads and elected officials.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain official city records, including meeting minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and legal documents.
- Provide exceptional customer service to residents, businesses, and visitors at the City Hall front desk.
- Process and maintain complex filing systems and perform high-volume data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
- Coordinate public meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and minute-taking.
- Assist in the preparation of official correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with state and local public records laws and retention schedules.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Paralegal studies, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative or clerical role, preferably in a government or public sector setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with document management software.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
