Responsibilities
- Collect and dispose of residential and commercial waste according to municipal schedules and safety regulations.
- Maintain and clean public streets, alleys, and right-of-ways to ensure a safe environment for citizens.
- Operate heavy-duty sanitation vehicles, including trucks and compactors, safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any mechanical issues to the fleet supervisor immediately.
- Interact professionally with the public and assist citizens with waste disposal inquiries.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Valid Louisiana Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings and weekends as required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn equipment operation.
