Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations during overnight shifts
- Conduct regular security checks and perimeter patrols to maintain safety protocols
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with appropriate protocols
- Document incidents, reports, and inmate behavior with precision and confidentiality
- Collaborate with day-shift officers for seamless transition of information
- Operate security systems including surveillance equipment and access control
- Maintain order during meal times, recreation, and transport activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license with clean record
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and polygraph examination
- Successful completion of 12-week correctional officer training academy
- Physical fitness to meet tactical response standards
- Ability to work rotating night shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- CPR and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire
- Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
