Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility rules to maintain security and order
- Conduct regular patrols and headcounts to ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Respond to emergencies, medical incidents, and behavioral issues with appropriate interventions
- Document all incidents and maintain accurate logs and reports
- Screen visitors, mail, and packages for contraband according to established procedures
- Participate in training drills for emergency scenarios and crisis management
- Collaborate with healthcare, mental health, and rehabilitation staff for inmate welfare
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED required)
- Valid Arizona Driver's License upon hire
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Must be 21 years of age or older at time of appointment
- Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) certification
- Strong communication skills and ability to de-escalate tense situations
- Physical stamina to perform duties including standing, walking, and restraining individuals
- Must be willing to work rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays
