Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility protocols during overnight hours
- Conduct regular security rounds and headcounts to maintain safety standards
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, and medical situations with appropriate protocols
- Document all incidents, observations, and shift activities in digital systems
- Screen visitors, mail, and packages according to departmental procedures
- Collaborate with day-shift officers for seamless transition of information
- Participate in mandatory defensive tactics and emergency response training
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Florida Driver's License and clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check and psychological evaluation
- Basic computer literacy and data entry skills
- Must be 19 years of age or older
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Physical fitness to meet job demands including walking, standing, and restraint techniques
- Florida certification as a Correctional Officer (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
