Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations to maintain security protocols
- Conduct regular perimeter patrols and headcounts to prevent contraband and escapes
- Respond to emergencies including medical incidents, altercations, and security breaches
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Screen visitors and incoming mail/packages according to departmental policies
- Operate electronic surveillance systems and control room equipment
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to manage inmate medical needs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Must be 21+ years old and a U.S. citizen
- Valid Kansas driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass rigorous background check, drug screening, and physical fitness assessment
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and surveillance systems
- Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
- Previous security or law enforcement experience preferred
- Ability to work rotating night shifts and holidays
