Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations to ensure institutional security
- Conduct regular inspections of living quarters, work areas, and common spaces
- Respond to emergencies including disturbances, medical incidents, and security breaches
- Document incidents and maintain accurate daily logs and reports
- Screen visitors and packages according to federal protocols
- Participate in inmate rehabilitation programs and educational activities
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during emergency operations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and valid state driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years of work experience
- Ability to pass rigorous background investigation and polygraph examination
- Successful completion of federal correctional officer training program
- Physical fitness to meet federal law enforcement standards
- Ability to work rotating weekend shifts and holidays
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
