As a Courthouse Clerk, you will serve as the first point of contact for legal professionals and the public, ensuring that court proceedings run smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate court records, including filing, indexing, and archiving legal documents.
- Assist the public and legal staff with inquiries regarding case status, filings, and procedural requirements.
- Operate office equipment, including scanners, printers, and case management software systems.
- Process payments, fines, and fees accurately using the county’s financial systems.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive legal information and court proceedings.
- Prepare docket sheets and summonses for court sessions under the supervision of court officers.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional clerical or legal coursework is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer navigation.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot errors in data entry and documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse populations.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
