Responsibilities
- Inspect travelers and cargo at Miami ports of entry to enforce federal laws and regulations
- Conduct interviews, examinations, and searches to detect illegal substances, weapons, and prohibited items
- Operate specialized detection equipment including X-ray machines and chemical analyzers
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records of inspections and enforcement actions
- Collaborate with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies on joint operations
- Respond to security incidents and emergency situations with appropriate protocols
- Participate in anti-smuggling and counter-terrorism initiatives in South Florida
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and valid driver's license
- Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible work experience
- Ability to pass rigorous background investigation and polygraph examination
- Successful completion of CBP Academy training program
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Physical fitness to meet CBP's medical and physical requirements
- Experience in law enforcement, security, or customer service preferred
