Responsibilities
- Coordinate Emergency Response: Direct and manage the operations of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during declared emergencies and major incidents.
- Plan Development: Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive emergency operations plans and hazard mitigation strategies in accordance with federal and state guidelines.
- Training & Exercises: Organize and conduct training drills, tabletop exercises, and full-scale exercises to ensure agency readiness and staff competency.
- Interagency Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison between local, state, and federal agencies, including FEMA and the Wisconsin Emergency Management.
- Information Management: Collect, analyze, and disseminate critical emergency information to the public, media, and stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Resource Management: Coordinate the allocation of personnel, equipment, and supplies during disaster response and recovery operations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field is required.
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in emergency management, disaster response, or public safety operations is required.
- Certification: Certification as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or similar professional credential is highly preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly under pressure.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with emergency management software (e.g., IEM, WebEOC) is mandatory.
- Availability: Must be available for on-call duty and potential overtime during emergency situations.
