Responsibilities
- Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans for natural disasters and public health crises
- Coordinate multi-agency response efforts during hurricanes, floods, and other emergencies
- Train county staff and community partners on disaster protocols and communication systems
- Analyze risk assessments and recommend infrastructure improvements for community resilience
- Manage federal grant applications and compliance for emergency management programs
- Lead public awareness campaigns about hurricane preparedness and evacuation procedures
- Conduct post-incident reviews and implement corrective action plans
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in disaster response or emergency services coordination
- Professional certification in Emergency Management (CEM or AEM preferred)
- Proficiency with GIS mapping and emergency notification systems
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work 24/7 during declared emergencies and weather events
- Strong knowledge of NIMS/ICS protocols and FEMA regulations
- Exceptional crisis communication and stakeholder management skills
