Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive emergency preparedness plans for natural disasters and public health crises
- Coordinate multi-agency response efforts during disasters including hurricanes, wildfires, and flooding
- Lead public communication campaigns to ensure community safety awareness and resource distribution
- Analyze risk assessments and mitigation strategies for vulnerable Austin neighborhoods
- Manage grant funding and resource allocation for emergency infrastructure projects
- Train county staff and community volunteers on emergency response protocols
- Conduct post-incident evaluations and recommend system improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years experience in disaster response, crisis management, or government emergency services
- Professional certification (CEM, EMAP, or similar) strongly preferred
- Expertise in NIMS/ICS frameworks and FEMA incident command systems
- Advanced proficiency in GIS mapping and emergency management software
- Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams under high-pressure conditions
- Texas driver's license with clean record
- Spanish bilingual skills highly desirable
