Responsibilities
- Coordinate disaster response operations for federal, state, and local agencies during emergencies
- Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans for natural disasters and public health crises
- Analyze risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for vulnerable communities
- Manage federal grant programs supporting disaster recovery infrastructure projects
- Train local emergency responders on federal protocols and compliance requirements
- Prepare situation reports and briefings for senior leadership and congressional stakeholders
- Leverage GIS technology for real-time disaster mapping and resource allocation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years experience in disaster response or emergency planning
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Professional Certification required
- Proficiency in incident command systems (ICS-300) and NIMS protocols
- Strong analytical skills with ability to assess complex emergency scenarios
- Exceptional communication skills for multi-agency coordination
- Valid driver's license and ability to work irregular hours during emergencies
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain federal security clearance
