Responsibilities
- Process Pension Applications: Assist in reviewing and processing pension and retirement benefit applications for eligible New York State employees.
- Member Inquiries: Handle incoming calls and emails from current and retired members regarding their pension plans, benefits, and status updates.
- Data Entry & Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within our secure database systems, ensuring all information complies with state regulations.
- Documentation: Prepare, verify, and mail necessary correspondence, including benefit statements and administrative letters.
- Compliance Support: Work under the guidance of senior analysts to ensure all processing adheres to federal and state pension laws and guidelines.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies or incomplete information in member files to prevent processing delays.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate's degree or relevant coursework in Finance or Public Administration is a plus but not mandatory.
- Experience: No prior experience required. We value potential and willingness to learn over specific tenure.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data entry and number crunching.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly to the public.
- Technical: Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Requirements: Must be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening.
