As a key member of our finance division, you will assist in processing retirement applications, calculating benefits, and providing exceptional customer service to public servants transitioning into retirement.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the processing and verification of pension and retirement benefit applications for state employees.
- Conduct research on state pension regulations and federal guidelines to ensure accurate benefit calculations.
- Communicate with applicants regarding their pension status, benefits packages, and required documentation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in the state's pension database and document management systems.
- Collaborate with the Payroll and HR departments to resolve discrepancies in service credit and retirement eligibility.
- Prepare routine reports on pension fund activities and emerging trends in public sector retirement planning.
- Provide general administrative support to the Pension Administration team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with sensitive financial data.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with the public and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced government environment.
- A strong understanding of the importance of public service and government operations.
