Responsibilities
- Process and review new pension applications and retirement requests with high accuracy.
- Assist in calculating pension benefits and service credits for eligible employees.
- Respond to inquiries from current and retired state employees regarding retirement plans via phone, email, and in-person.
- Maintain and update accurate digital and physical records of all pension participants.
- Collaborate with the Payroll and Benefits departments to ensure data consistency.
- Conduct basic audits of files to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Prepare routine reports on pension activity and outstanding cases for management review.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Business, Finance, or Public Administration is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive financial data with strict confidentiality.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word proficiency is a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Willingness to undergo a background check and obtain necessary government security clearance.
