Responsibilities
- Case Management: Review and analyze applications to determine eligibility for federal and state benefit programs with high accuracy and adherence to strict timelines.
- Benefit Calculations: Calculate monthly benefits and ensure all financial disbursements are processed correctly based on current regulations.
- Client Communication: Interact with applicants via phone, email, and in-person to explain complex policies, answer questions, and resolve issues.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential digital and physical records for all client files, ensuring compliance with federal privacy laws.
- Policy Updates: Stay up-to-date with changes in federal and state legislation to ensure consistent application of new rules.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of social workers and case managers to provide holistic support to beneficiaries.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in administrative support, customer service, or government benefits processing.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Pennsylvania state government procedures and federal benefit programs (e.g., SNAP, TANF) is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn new database systems quickly.
- Attributes: Strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Background: Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as required for federal employment.
