Responsibilities
- Patrol designated border areas to detect and prevent illegal entry of individuals and contraband
- Apprehend individuals violating immigration and customs laws
- Conduct interviews, searches, and seizures in accordance with federal regulations
- Utilize surveillance technology and specialized equipment for border security operations
- Collaborate with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies
- Maintain detailed records and prepare comprehensive incident reports
- Provide emergency assistance to individuals in distress along the border
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- Valid state driver's license
- Ability to pass background investigation and polygraph examination
- Successful completion of 19-week Border Patrol Academy training
- Physical fitness standards including running, swimming, and obstacle courses
- Spanish language proficiency (written and oral)
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Pass medical examination and drug screening
