Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce federal correctional policies during weekend shifts
- Conduct security inspections and headcounts to prevent contraband and ensure facility safety
- Respond to emergencies and incidents with de-escalation techniques per BOP protocols
- Maintain accurate incident reports and documentation for federal compliance
- Operate security systems including CCTV, metal detectors, and access control technology
- Collaborate with weekend shift teams for seamless operations and handovers
- Participate in ongoing federal training programs for correctional best practices
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and valid driver's license required
- Minimum 1 year security or law enforcement experience preferred
- Ability to pass rigorous federal background investigation and polygraph
- Physical fitness to handle facility operations including climbing stairs and restraining inmates
- Strong communication skills for inmate interactions and shift reporting
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays as per federal schedule
- Successful completion of BOP Correctional Officer Training Academy
- Basic computer proficiency for reporting systems
