Responsibilities
- Plan Administration: Oversee the daily operations of federal pension plans, ensuring accurate processing of benefits, payments, and contribution tracking.
- Regulatory Compliance: Interpret and apply OPM (Office of Personnel Management) regulations and federal laws to ensure full compliance with the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).
- Data Analysis: Analyze actuarial data and employee records to forecast pension liabilities and optimize plan sustainability.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for federal employees regarding pension inquiries, providing clear, accurate, and empathetic guidance.
- Record Management: Maintain rigorous confidentiality and security standards for sensitive employee financial and personal records.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current pension processing procedures and implement modernized solutions to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in federal benefits administration, HR, or pension management.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), Social Security, and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) regulations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Workday) and advanced Excel skills for data modeling and reporting.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-experts.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
