Responsibilities
- Analyze municipal budgets and financial statements for accuracy and compliance
- Prepare grant applications and manage federal/state funding allocations
- Develop long-term financial forecasts for capital improvement projects
- Collaborate with department heads on budget optimization strategies
- Conduct risk assessments for public financial initiatives
- Present financial data to city council committees and stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and governmental accounting standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of government or public sector financial experience
- Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling software
- Strong knowledge of Illinois municipal finance regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
- Experience with SAP or PeopleSoft financial systems
