Responsibilities
- Manage Pension Disbursements: Process daily pension claims, survivor benefits, and cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) with 100% accuracy during night shift hours.
- Conduct Night Audits: Perform comprehensive reconciliation of pension accounts, ensuring that all entries match federal and state guidelines.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to FERPA, ERISA, and IRS regulations regarding pension fund management.
- Retiree Communication: Respond to inquiries regarding pension status, vesting, and benefits via secure channels.
- Data Integrity: Maintain and update the central database of retirees and beneficiaries, ensuring all personal and financial data is current and secure.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate discrepancies in payments and resolve them efficiently to maintain retiree satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in government benefits administration, pension processing, or public sector payroll.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or equivalent professional certification (e.g., CFP, CPA).
- Shift Availability: Must be willing and able to work rotating night shifts (e.g., 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM) with occasional weekend coverage.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel advanced functions required) and experience with ERISA-compliant software.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to detect errors in complex financial data and a commitment to accuracy.
- Government Knowledge: Understanding of federal retirement systems and government procurement policies.
