Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate radio communication systems to coordinate field units and resources
- Maintain accurate and detailed incident logs using CAD/RMS software
- Provide critical information to first responders during active emergencies
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress situations
- Adhere to all departmental policies and confidentiality protocols
- Complete mandatory dispatcher training program within specified timeframe
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to type 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Valid Louisiana driver's license
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Clear speaking voice and exceptional communication abilities
