Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and vulnerability analysis of VA information systems and networks.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with federal regulations (e.g., FISMA, NIST).
- Monitor network traffic and security alerts to detect and respond to cyber threats and incidents in real-time.
- Oversee the accreditation and certification of IT systems to ensure compliance with security baselines.
- Collaborate with IT teams and system administrators to patch vulnerabilities and secure infrastructure.
- Provide security guidance and training to staff members on best practices for data protection.
Qualifications
- Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship is mandatory for this position.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification: Active CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in information security, network security, or related IT field.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background clearance.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in security tools, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and risk management frameworks.
