Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain advanced cybersecurity protocols including NIST 800-53 compliance frameworks
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on VA IT infrastructure
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for threat detection
- Develop incident response plans and coordinate cybersecurity breach mitigation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into IT architectures
- Lead security awareness training for 500+ federal employees
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations including FISMA and HIPAA
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years in IT security with federal/government experience preferred
- Active CISSP, Security+, or CompTIA Security+ certification required
- Proficiency in network security tools (e.g., Splunk, Palo Alto Networks)
- Experience with cloud security platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and encryption protocols
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance
- Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment methodologies
