Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain network security protocols including firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on VA IT infrastructure
- Develop incident response plans and lead cybersecurity breach mitigation
- Monitor security alerts using SIEM platforms and analyze threat intelligence
- Ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST, and federal cybersecurity standards
- Train staff on cybersecurity best practices and security awareness
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system hardening and security audits
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years in cybersecurity or IT security role
- CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification required
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud security and Active Directory
- Familiarity with federal IT security frameworks (NIST 800-53, FISMA)
- Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex security issues
- Active U.S. government security clearance eligibility
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
