Responsibilities
- Network Administration: Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless environments.
- Security Management: Oversee network security protocols, manage firewalls, and conduct vulnerability assessments to protect sensitive state data.
- System Support: Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues for internal stakeholders, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Project Leadership: Lead or participate in major IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades and migration initiatives.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and contractors to ensure optimal service delivery.
- Compliance: Ensure all network operations adhere to state and federal IT compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in network engineering, systems administration, or a related IT discipline.
- Certifications: Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in configuring routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto).
- Operating Systems: Strong working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Travel: Ability to travel to various CDOT district offices and job sites as required.
