Responsibilities
- Safely operate various municipal vehicles, including vans and trucks, following all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness.
- Adhere to strict schedules and routes to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Interact professionally with the public and city employees, maintaining a high standard of customer service.
- Assist in loading and unloading cargo, ensuring items are secured properly for transit.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs and minor accidents immediately to the fleet management team.
Qualifications
- Valid state-issued Driver's License (Class C or higher, CDL preferred depending on vehicle type).
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years.
- Ability to pass a standard background check and drug screening.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Strong knowledge of Louisville, KY, roadways and geography.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues.
