Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair public facilities including parks, sidewalks, and street furniture
- Operate heavy machinery (snowplows, graders) and specialized equipment safely
- Conduct routine inspections and document infrastructure conditions
- Collaborate with engineering teams on public improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety regulations
- Respond to emergency weather and infrastructure damage scenarios
- Manage waste disposal and recycling operations across city districts
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 2+ years maintenance experience
- Valid Illinois Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic proficiency with maintenance tracking software (e.g., Maximo)
- Strong communication skills for public interactions
- Clean background check and drug-free workplace compliance
- Preferred: Associate degree in facilities management or related field
