Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Operate and maintain heavy municipal equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, graders, and snow plows.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, including pothole repairs and utility line clearances.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during adverse weather conditions to keep roadways passable.
- Conduct regular inspections of public infrastructure to identify potential issues before they become critical.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and departmental protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Class B Indiana Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with necessary endorsements is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and hydraulic equipment is desired.
