Responsibilities
- Maintenance Operations: Perform routine maintenance, repair, and cleaning of city streets, sidewalks, and drainage canals to ensure public safety and flood control.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy municipal equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, street sweepers, and jackhammers.
- Infrastructure Repair: Assist in pothole repairs, concrete patching, and the installation/removal of traffic signs and barricades.
- Storm Response: Respond to weather-related emergencies, including street flooding and debris removal during heavy storms.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain an inventory of tools, materials, and supplies required for daily operations.
- Documentation: Accurately complete daily work logs, incident reports, and maintenance forms.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; technical or trade school certification is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or a related municipal field.
- Licensing: Valid Louisiana Class C Driver's License is required. Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is highly preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform heavy physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, working in various weather conditions, and standing for extended periods.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to read and interpret technical blueprints or schematics.
- Background: Must pass a post-offer background check and drug screen.
