Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, graders, dump trucks) safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency repairs during inclement weather or public safety incidents
- Assist in traffic control and public safety coordination during city events
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintenance checks
- Document work activities and maintain accurate maintenance records
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on infrastructure improvement projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in maintenance preferred
- Minimum 2 years' experience in municipal maintenance or construction
- Valid New Mexico Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely (backhoes, excavators, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
