Responsibilities
- Maintain Public Infrastructure: Perform routine maintenance on streets, sidewalks, and public facilities, including cleaning, repairing, and painting as needed.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy machinery and tools, including dump trucks, street sweepers, and jackhammers, under strict supervision.
- Public Safety Support: Assist in snow and ice removal during inclement weather and respond to emergency maintenance requests from the public.
- Waste Management: Assist in the collection and disposal of municipal waste and debris in designated areas.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and report on the condition of public equipment and supplies, ensuring timely ordering of necessary materials.
- Compliance: Adhere to all city safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and departmental policies at all times.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Prior experience in construction, landscaping, or general labor is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided.
- License: Valid Louisiana Class C Driver's License required. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools; ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Availability: Must be available to work a full-time schedule, including weekends and holidays if required.
