Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repair of public infrastructure, including roadways, sidewalks, and drainage systems to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and weather-related incidents to minimize city disruption.
- Inspection & Compliance: Conduct field inspections of construction sites and municipal facilities to ensure compliance with safety codes and city regulations.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy machinery and hand tools, including backhoes, rollers, and jackhammers, as required for daily tasks.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with city engineers and contractors to execute infrastructure improvement projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of work performed, material usage, and equipment maintenance to support municipal budgeting and reporting.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Licensure: Valid California Class C Driver’s License required; a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or general maintenance.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with hand and power tools, basic knowledge of construction methods, and safety protocols.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with the public and city staff effectively.
