Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of municipal infrastructure, including streetlights, traffic signals, and water/sewer systems.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, such as backhoes, dump trucks, and excavators, in compliance with safety regulations.
- Inspect facilities and equipment to identify issues, diagnose mechanical problems, and implement effective solutions.
- Respond to emergency service requests and after-hours calls regarding utility outages or road hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and inventory levels.
- Collaborate with other municipal departments to ensure coordinated maintenance schedules.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and city policies while on duty.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; vocational training or Associate’s degree in a related field is a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record required.
- Proven experience in general maintenance, construction, or public works operations.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
