As a Public Works Laborer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the infrastructure of Charlotte. No prior experience is required for entry-level positions; we provide on-the-job training to help you succeed.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, paving, patching, and repairing roads and sidewalks.
- Operate heavy machinery such as dump trucks, rollers, and excavators safely and efficiently.
- Assist in traffic control and flagging duties to ensure the safety of the public and crew.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance issues immediately.
- Collaborate with supervisors and engineers to complete projects on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License (Class C) required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Physical stamina to perform strenuous labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is a plus but not mandatory.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
