Responsibilities
- Perform Routine Maintenance: Execute daily maintenance tasks on public infrastructure, including roads, parks, and drainage systems to ensure community safety and accessibility.
- Operate Heavy Machinery: Safely and efficiently operate a variety of municipal vehicles and heavy equipment, such as dump trucks, rollers, and excavators.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to service requests, emergency repairs, and weather-related incidents to minimize disruption to city operations.
- Inspect Infrastructure: Conduct thorough inspections of public facilities and grounds to identify hazards, wear and tear, or areas requiring repair.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, planning, and other municipal departments, to execute complex projects.
- Adhere to Safety Protocols: Strictly follow OSHA safety guidelines and city policies to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and the public.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; vocational training in public works or mechanics is a plus.
- License: Valid California Class C Driverβs License and a satisfactory driving record are mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in general labor, maintenance, or a related field.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform work in various weather conditions.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as familiarity with construction or maintenance software.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.
