Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, parks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment safely (e.g., dump trucks, mowers, hand tools)
- Respond to emergency public works requests during severe weather events
- Conduct regular inspections of municipal assets and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on community improvement projects
- Ensure strict compliance with OSHA and city safety regulations
- Provide direct support to Austin residents during public service interactions
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License (Class B preferred)
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works, construction, or related field
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- OSHA 10-hour certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
