Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Machinery: Safely drive and operate snowplows, dump trucks, and other municipal equipment for road maintenance and snow removal.
- Perform Infrastructure Maintenance: Assist in the repair, maintenance, and construction of public streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Public Safety Support: Respond to emergency service calls, including traffic control and utility repair assistance during inclement weather.
- Fleet Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and city protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the public.
- Community Interaction: Interact professionally with the public and fellow employees while performing duties in various neighborhoods.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal public works is preferred but not always required; on-the-job training is provided.
- Valid Driver’s License: A valid, clean driving record and current driver’s license are mandatory.
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform physical labor in all weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Technical Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Availability: Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed for emergency response and snow removal operations.
