Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator to join the IT division of the Metro Government of Louisville and Jefferson County. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, security, and optimization of our internal network infrastructure. You will work in a fast-paced environment supporting thousands of employees and citizens, ensuring data integrity and system availability.
As a key member of our technology team, you will lead network upgrades, troubleshoot complex connectivity issues, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal cybersecurity standards. Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage the County's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) architecture.
- Monitor network performance, traffic, and security to ensure high availability and optimal throughput.
- Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Implement and maintain data backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Collaborate with other IT departments to integrate new hardware and software systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to staff regarding network connectivity and hardware issues.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network administration or systems engineering.
- Certification such as CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols.
- Experience with enterprise-level hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper) and firewalls.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
