Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and conduct regular security checks during overnight hours
- Enforce facility rules and respond to security incidents with de-escalation techniques
- Perform headcounts and maintain accurate documentation of all observations
- Operate security systems including surveillance cameras and access control equipment
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as certified
- Conduct searches of persons, cells, and common areas for contraband
- Write detailed incident reports and maintain compliance with state protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- TDOC Correctional Officer certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Valid Texas Class C driver's license
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Basic computer skills for report writing and documentation
- Physical ability to stand/walk for 8+ hours and restrain individuals if needed
- Strong communication skills and conflict resolution abilities
- Previous security or law enforcement experience preferred
