Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility protocols during night shifts
- Conduct regular security rounds and headcounts per departmental standards
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, and medical situations with de-escalation techniques
- Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with law enforcement and medical teams during critical incidents
- Operate security systems including surveillance equipment and access controls
- Train new officers on safety procedures and institutional policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean record
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass background investigation
- Successful completion of physical fitness and psychological evaluations
- Basic CPR/First Aid certification (provided if not current)
- Ability to work rotating shifts and holidays as required
- No felony convictions; misdemeanor cases reviewed individually
- Strong conflict resolution and crisis management skills
