Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility rules to maintain security and order during night shifts
- Conduct regular perimeter checks and surveillance to prevent contraband and unauthorized access
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with de-escalation techniques
- Document incidents, inmate behavior, and security breaches in compliance with department protocols
- Transport inmates within the facility and to external locations as needed
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during emergency situations
- Participate in continuous training programs to maintain certification and skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and physical fitness assessment
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn security systems
- Strong conflict resolution and communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Previous security or law enforcement experience preferred but not required
