Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and maintain facility security protocols during overnight hours
- Conduct regular security rounds and inspections to prevent contraband or safety violations
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, and medical situations with appropriate de-escalation techniques
- Complete detailed incident reports and documentation with precision and timeliness
- Enforce facility rules and procedures consistently and fairly
- Coordinate with day shift staff during transition periods for seamless operations
- Participate in emergency response drills and security enhancement initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean record
- Must pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Completion of state-approved correctional officer training program
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours (10 PM - 6 AM)
- Strong conflict resolution and crisis management skills
- Physical fitness to perform security duties including standing/walking for extended periods
- Basic computer proficiency for report documentation
