Your Mission
As the Night Shift Systems Administrator, you will be the guardian of our digital infrastructure during non-business hours. You will ensure 24/7 uptime for essential services, manage security protocols, and resolve technical issues that require immediate attention in a quiet, focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot server infrastructure, databases, and network systems during the evening and overnight hours.
- Execute and verify scheduled system backups and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity.
- Implement and enforce network security protocols and firewalls to protect sensitive government data.
- Respond to critical alerts and tickets generated by automated monitoring systems with urgency and precision.
- Perform system patches, updates, and maintenance tasks with minimal disruption to end-users.
- Collaborate with day-shift engineering teams to document issues and implement long-term solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration, network engineering, or IT support.
- Mandatory availability to work the Night Shift schedule (typically 5:00 PM - 2:00 AM or 6:00 PM - 3:00 AM).
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with government IT security standards and compliance regulations (e.g., FISMA).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a low-traffic environment.
