Responsibilities
- Maintain park landscapes, athletic fields, and trails through mowing, pruning, and seasonal planting
- Operate maintenance equipment including tractors, mowers, and irrigation systems
- Inspect and repair playgrounds, benches, and recreational facilities
- Support event setup and teardown for festivals, sports leagues, and community programs
- Enforce park safety protocols and visitor engagement best practices
- Collaborate with cross-department teams on urban forestry and habitat restoration projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certification preferred
- 6+ months groundskeeping or park maintenance experience
- Valid NYS driver's license with clean record
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (training provided)
- Physical stamina for lifting 50+ lbs and working in extreme weather
- Basic knowledge of horticulture principles and safety standards
- Strong communication skills for public interaction
