Responsibilities
- Record Management: Organize, classify, and maintain historical and government records in both physical and digital formats.
- Digitization: Utilize scanning equipment to convert paper documents into high-quality digital images for long-term preservation.
- Public Assistance: Assist researchers, genealogists, and the general public with inquiries regarding state archives and historical data.
- Compliance: Ensure all records are stored according to state retention schedules and privacy regulations.
- Inventory Control: Conduct regular audits of storage areas to maintain accurate inventory logs and locate specific documents efficiently.
- Project Support: Collaborate with the full-time staff on special archival projects and database maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree in History, Library Science, or Public Administration is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in an office environment, library, or archival setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer literacy with the ability to learn new software and database systems quickly.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with the public and staff.
- Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends or evenings, as needed.
