Role Overview:
As a Part-Time IT Specialist, you will provide essential technical support and infrastructure maintenance for federal and state applications. You will work closely with senior administrators to ensure system uptime, data security, and seamless user experience across various departments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Network Infrastructure: Monitor and troubleshoot local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) to ensure optimal performance.
- Technical Support: Provide Tier 2 help desk support, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues for government employees.
- Data Security Compliance: Assist in enforcing federal and state security protocols, including data encryption and access control management.
- System Updates: Assist in the deployment of software patches, security updates, and system upgrades during off-peak hours.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, incidents, and resolutions in our ticketing system.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies into existing legacy systems.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional IT support or system administration experience.
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or similar certifications are highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic scripting (PowerShell/Batch).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Availability: Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends as required by project needs.
