Responsibilities
- Process Pension Applications: Review and evaluate retirement benefit requests to ensure compliance with state pension plan regulations.
- Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for retirees and beneficiaries regarding pension inquiries, benefits updates, and procedural questions.
- Data Integrity: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and physical records of all pension plans, ensuring strict adherence to confidentiality standards.
- System Management: Utilize state database systems to update employee status, salary history, and contribution records.
- Compliance Support: Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation required for internal audits and government regulatory reviews.
- Issue Resolution: Investigate discrepancies in pension calculations and resolve them efficiently to maintain employee trust.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Human Resources is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in administrative support, customer service, or government benefits processing.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with database management systems.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to analyze data, detect errors, and ensure accuracy in financial documentation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex policies to non-technical audiences.
- Availability: Ability to work part-time hours, typically 20-25 hours per week, with flexibility for occasional overtime during peak processing periods.
